Dogs see only in black and white.
Popping your knuckles causes arthritis.
Lightning never strikes the same place twice.
Most myths are harmless.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for most imposter syndrome myths. At best, they’re slightly misleading.
And at worst, they lead you spinning your wheels never really getting any traction on the path of creating your successful business because shadows of doubt are looming over your abilities and the success you have already had in your life leading up to this point.
So let’s bust a few imposter syndrome myths (more like lies) once and for all.

Myth 1: You Must Be Perfect to Succeed
Emphasize Progress Over Perfection
Myth 2: Everyone Else Knows What They're Doing
Learning is an Ongoing Journey
Myth 3: Success Happens Overnight
Small Wins Lead to Big Achievements
Myth 4: Asking for Help is a Sign of Weakness
Oh boy, if this were true, I don't think anyone would be successful. Because is anyone really perfect? And what exactly does perfect even mean?
It could mean that your creations never have any flaws.
One) that would be exhausting to have to be in that constant state of anxiety and turmoil double-checking every little detail.
And two) are we really expecting those around us to be perfect? Maybe, but for the most part, it is more relatable if there are imperfections because as humans we aren't perfect.
Embracing imperfections can be a catalyst for innovation and growth in your designs, your business, and in your life.
Instead of striving for flawlessness in every aspect of your printable designs or other creations, shift your focus to celebrating progress.
Recognize that each version is a stepping stone towards improvement.
For instance, experimenting with different color schemes, layouts, or fonts can lead to unexpected breakthroughs in your creations.
Remember, growth comes from trying new things and learning from your mistakes.
So #realtalk your quirks, imperfections and unconventional ideas are strengths because that creative style is what will set you apart from other printable creators. Letting your personality shine through your creations will make them distinct and memorable.
Also, as weird as this may seem, there is almost a joy that gets absorbed into your products/offers that your customers will be able to feel on some level. If you let your authentic self shine through, others will be able to see and feel it as well.
Even if you are just starting out, you still have a unique style. You might need to experiment more in the beginning with patterns and colors to see what you really like.
If you are having a difficult time knowing what color combinations to use, then buying and using PLR printable templates can be helpful here, because when you buy one it already has patterns and colors attached and that can help you see what combinations can work well together.
It isn't that there aren't people that know what they are doing, it's that no one has it all figured out. It might seem like that when you scroll on a social media platform and you see the picture-perfect shot.
But spoiler alert, that is the highlight reel. There is a real person behind that who faces challenges and is still figuring out as they go.
Confession: I'm still figuring out as I go.
There is always something new to learn. This can feel daunting, however it's a good thing because you don't have to have it all figured out in order to continue in your journey.
Every mistake is a stepping stone towards growth, every challenge an opportunity to level up your skills.
Remember, growth doesn't come from having all the answers; it comes from diving into the unknown and pushing past your uncertainties.
So, the next time you catch yourself thinking that everyone else knows what they're doing, remember that we're all on this journey together.
Embrace the unknown, take risks, and keep pushing yourself to new heights.
Success isn't about having all the answers; it's about being willing to learn and grow every step of the way.
Although, it would be nice if the level of monetary success you desire would magically materialize over night, it doesn't happen this way.
It might look like it when you read stories of people that seem to have made all this money in a short amount of time, except for the fact the article doesn't usually mention the backstory of months or years of persistence and dedication.
Don't overlook the significance of celebrating small victories along your journey.
Yes, this is much easier said than done. Because our human brain likes to diminish all of our positive achievements and hone in on the lack.
Every little win, no matter how simple or silly they seem, is a stepping stone on your journey as a printable creator.
When you acknowledge and allow yourself to rejoice in your wins (and maybe throw a little party 🥳), there are several benefits.
You will boost your confidence, fuel your batteries to help you keep your "why" in mind, and combat feelings of imposter syndrome that seep in.
Another thing that is helpful is writing down your wins, the smallest to the largest, so that when you start questioning yourself or what you are creating, you can remind yourself of everything that you have accomplished, keeping the imposter syndrome monster at bay.
Nope nope nopity nope. This is a flat-out lie.
Asking for help when you need it is a sign of strength because you will be able to go farther with someone else's assistance than on your own. Plus, you won't stay stuck.
If you are unsure of how to do something on your own, and not sure where to go to figure out what you need to do, you won't be able to progress.
This myth has definitely been my Achilles heel over the past 5 years. As a (mostly) recovered perfectionist, I have had a hard time with being okay with not knowing everything or possibly most things before diving in headfirst.
This could be one reason why I have had multiple different business over an array of different online business models.
But the good news, you don't have to know everything. You don't even have to know anything.
You just need to be willing to start, to learn, to make mistakes, to experiment.
A motto I like to live by is:
Take messy, imperfect action because done is better than perfect so move fast and break things.
You might never feel ready. So, if you are waiting until you feel ready, you might never start.
(mic drop 🎤)
Mistakes are not signs of failure; they are stepping stones to success.
It's through practice and persistence that true expertise is gained.
So, don't be afraid to make a mess - that's where the magic happens.
The journey is yours to own, so embrace the unknown and let your creativity shine through!
There you have it: 5 imposter syndrome myths.
Remember, embracing your creativity is a rebellious act against self-doubt.
Don't let imposter syndrome dim your creative spark – shine brightly and embrace your unique talents.
You're not alone in this journey – seek support from your fellow creators and let your imagination run wild.
